Configure GST and tax settings

Use this guide to set your GST status and tax-related invoice defaults so quote and invoice totals match how your business charges customers.

When to review GST settings

Review these settings when you start using Fencify, when your GST registration status changes, or before issuing a new round of quotes and invoices. Keeping this area current helps your totals and payment stage amounts reflect the way your business needs to charge.

It is also worth reviewing after updating your billing identity details, such as your ABN or ACN, so your records stay consistent across customer-facing documents.

Details to confirm before you update

  • Your current GST registration status for the business.
  • Your ABN or ACN value used in billing identity fields.
  • Your preferred invoice payment terms and invoice notes.
  • Your default deposit and staged payment percentages if you use milestone billing.

Updating GST and tax defaults

  1. Open your configuration area and go to the invoice and payment defaults section.
  2. Set your GST status to match your current business registration.
  3. Check the billing identity fields, including ABN or ACN, and update any outdated values.
  4. Confirm invoice terms, invoice notes, and payment structure defaults used on new work.
  5. Save the settings so your account keeps the updated GST and billing defaults.

Checking quote and invoice totals after saving

After saving, use the built-in preview panels to confirm the numbers you expect. The previews show subtotal, GST amount, total, and payment stage amounts so you can check that the configured percentages and GST status are producing sensible results.

If the totals do not look right, reopen the same settings, adjust the fields, and save again before issuing customer documents. This gives your office team a reliable baseline for future quotes, deposits, progress claims, and final invoice balances.
