Create an inventory product
Create inventory products when you need a material, gate or custom item available for supplier mapping, fence model components and quoting.
Where product setup fits in quoting
Products are the catalogue items that can be selected in fence models and model components. A clear product record helps the quoting workflow apply the right item, supplier context and price when a fence run is built.
You can create a product from the Inventory actions menu. You can also map a universal template into your account when a standard item is close to what you need.
Product fields that affect estimating
Enter a product name that your team will recognise, then add the supplier SKU if your supplier uses one. Choose a supplier when the item should be linked to a supplier record, and set cost and sell prices for estimating.
Choose the correct category. Some categories expose extra fields such as height, length or profile. Gate products can include gate type, width, height, colour, swing direction, latch type, compatible fence types and whether hardware is included.
Save and review the new item
- Open the create product form from Inventory.
- Enter the name, SKU, supplier, cost price, sell price and category.
- Complete any category-specific fields that appear.
- Save the product, then find it in the product list and confirm the source is shown as your item.
Good catalogue habits
Use consistent names for posts, sheets, rails, gates and hardware.
Keep supplier SKUs close to the wording used on supplier invoices or catalogues.
Review prices before building or updating fence model components.
