Update an inventory product

Update a product when supplier details, prices, category information or technical attributes need to be corrected before further quoting work.

When to update a product

Update your own product when the supplier SKU changes, pricing is revised, a supplier is assigned, or technical details such as height, length, profile or gate settings need correction.

If you open a universal template, saving changes creates a personal copy in your inventory. The template remains available as a standard reference while your account receives an editable version.

Details to check before saving

Check that the product name is clear, the supplier is valid, and the category matches the way the item is used. The selected category controls which extra fields are available.

For gate products, review width, height, colour, swing direction, latch type, compatible fence types and included hardware. For priced materials, confirm both cost and sell prices are current.

Updating the product record

  1. Open the product from the Inventory list.
  2. Edit the name, SKU, supplier, prices and category fields as needed.
  3. Complete any category-specific or gate-specific details shown on the form.
  4. Save the product and return to the catalogue to confirm the update.

Before relying on the updated item

Check any fence models that use the product as a component.

Review quote totals if the product price change affects an active estimate.

If you need to delete a product, first confirm no fence models currently use it.
